For us, this work started long before KONDRA in the U.S.

Our story with bags did not begin recently. We have been working with handbags in
Ukraine since 2013, and over the years this work became much more than a business direction for us. For us, handmade bags made in Ukraine reflect years of experience, trusted craftsmanship, and real care behind each piece.
When you spend that much time around bags, you begin to see what really matters. A good bag should be well made, comfortable to use, pleasant to touch, and unique in its own way. It is not only about how it looks in a photo. It is about whether a person will enjoy carrying it in real life.
That is still how we think today. Even after rebuilding in the U.S., we did not want to lose the standards and values that shaped our work from the beginning.

What our artisans in Ukraine actually do
The bags we offer do not arrive finished from somewhere else. Our artisans in Ukraine make them through the full process.
Materials arrive at the workshop, and from there the work begins. The team cuts the material, sews the parts together, assembles the bag, checks the details, and attaches the hardware. Every step matters, because every step affects how the bag will feel in the end.
This is one reason the process means so much to us. The people making our bags are not doing one small part and stepping away. They are involved in bringing the whole piece together.
That kind of work creates something more thoughtful and more personal. This is also part of what makes our bags different from mass-produced products.

Why we stayed with the same Ukrainian makers

We continued working with Ukrainian artisans not only because they do excellent work, but because we believe in the people behind it.
These are not random suppliers. They are our friends, our long-time partners, and part of one team that we have known for years. We trust them. We know how they work. We know the level of care they bring to every bag.
Staying connected to them was important to us for another reason too: it allowed us to keep offering something that feels real and distinctive. Our bags are not generic products made without identity. They come from a process, a team, and a relationship that has been built over time. This is also why supporting Ukrainian artisans matters so much to us.

What matters most to us in a bag
Over the years, we became very clear about what makes a bag worth carrying.
For us, a bag should have:
quality construction
pleasant materials
comfort in everyday use
a unique feel of its own
We do not believe a bag should be chosen only because it looks good for a moment. It should feel right over time. It should fit into a person’s day naturally and still feel special.
That is why we care so much about the making process. Small decisions in construction, shape, stitching, and finishing all add up to the final experience of using the bag.

Why this is personal for us
KONDRA is not just about selling bags.
For us, it is part of our life. It carries years of experience, relationships, work, and meaning. It connects what we built in Ukraine with what we are building now in the U.S. That is why this brand feels bigger to us than a regular business.
Every collection carries a part of that story. Every bag reflects not only design and materials, but also the people and the commitment behind it.
That is why handmade work in Ukraine still matters so much to us today.
