Who Actually Makes KONDRA Bags
KONDRA bags don’t come from big factories. They are made in Ukraine by real people who work with their hands every day. Small workshops. Small teams. Sometimes just a few artisans in one space.
They work with vegan leather - a material we chose on purpose. It is cruelty-free, durable, and practical for everyday life. It behaves differently than traditional leather, so it requires attention and patience. Not every step is fast. Some things are done slowly. That’s normal.
Each bag goes through several hands. Cutting. Stitching. Shaping. Checking details. If something doesn’t look right, it gets fixed. When the bag is finished, it is packed and sent to us in the United States. Only then does it become part of KONDRA.
We know the people behind this work. We talk to them directly. There is no middle layer. No outsourcing.
Why We Keep Doing It This Way
Working this way is not the easiest option. It takes more time. More coordination. More trust. But it matters to us.
Our artisans continue to work in Ukraine, even during very uncertain times. By choosing handmade production and vegan leather, we support their skills, their work, and their ability to keep going. This is not mass fashion. And it is not perfect by design.
